Looking to Volunteer

Does it involve learning how to make yourself a better person, giving back to the community, adding excitement to your life, making new friendships? Volunteering can be one of the most rewarding things someone can choose to do. The Schuylkill Hose is always looking for people willing to help the community whether it be as a firefighter, scuba diver, junior firefighter or just some one who can participate in fundraisers. 5/4/20 0820hrs The SHFD dive team was requested along with 48Dive (Mahanoy City) to assist Fire district 13 (Heigins Valley Fire rescue) with and ongoing search detail. Dive teams were asked to search a body of water located within the search grid. Both teams deployed divers from shore using pendulum search patterns and a follow up perimeter search to clear the area of water from the list.

Birthday Parade Notice!!!!

The Schuylkill Haven Fire Department would like to offer a way for your kid(s) to celebrate their birthday during this time of quarantine. We would like to do a one-time parade next Saturday, May 9th, starting at 3:00 PM. Please send your address in a private message to the Schuylkill Hose Company #2 page only! We will take your address and come up with a parade route. We will post the route on this page by Saturday morning, or sooner, if possible. Please have all requests in by Thursday evening. Unfortunately, we can’t continue to do individual parades, and we hate turning anyone down. Also, our members need to spend time with their families and we also need to be ready for any emergencies that may arise. We thank you for you support and hope to see a lot of people next weekend!!!!

This will be in Schuylkill Haven Borough only!

Tonight the Schuylkill Hose Company dedicated Tower 63-22 to Glenn T. Sattizahn Jr. by presenting him with a dedication plaque for himself and (2) stainless steel ones that will be mounted on the Tower. Glenn continues to play a vital role in the day to day operations of our company with over 48 years of service and counting. After the plaque presentation with his family, it was only right for him to place it in service using his old Chief 720 designation. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped make this project a success and it’s great to have our tower back in service! Thank you to a.farr photography. for your help with this special day!

Heavy rains always remind us of all the various water rescue responses we’ve responded on over the years, some of which have had unfortunate outcomes and some situations could have been completely avoided. We just would like to remind everyone to Never underestimate the weather or water. Turn around don’t drown
